RFP Title
NineSigma, representing a multibillion-dollar manufacturer in clothing industry, seeks a development partner for a testing instrument to measure yarn tension of weaving machinery. Specifically, the client aims at tension measurement of every single piece of yarns disposed at a density of 6 pieces/cm. Proposals for a technology that has not been applied to textiles and will require additional development are also welcome.
The client’s goal is to develop a testing instrument; however, it is also considering introducing the technology to the production line, depending on the circumstances.

Proposals for a technology that has not yet been applied to textiles and will require additional development are also welcome.
The client produces textiles using weaving machinery. For yarn floats that unexpectedly occur as defects in the production process, it seeks to determine the cause and take measures to solve the problem.
While striving to collect data of yarn tension before and after floats occur in order to determine the cause of such defects, the client has yet to find an instrument that can fulfill all of its required specifications, such as the number of yarns that can be simultaneously measured, instrument size, and data proceeding function. Thus, the client can conduct only limited activities to improve the current situation.
Therefore, the client has issued this open request to select a potential partner(s) from corporations and researchers with excellent technology outside their existing network.
The client aims to develop a testing instrument in this open request, and depending on the circumstances, is considering introducing the technology to the production line.
Proposal shall have clear points and should not include confidential information. Supplemental files may be submitted in addition to the proposal.
Response evaluation
The client will evaluate all responses with the following criteria.
Anticipated Project Process
After reviewing submitted proposals, the client possibly ask clarifying questions before selecting the most suitable candidates for collaboration. The client will select best candidates through evaluations. During the selection process, the client may execute NDA with selected respondents, seek further information disclosure, and discuss specific development targets or potential opportunities.
The client will execute necessary agreements with the selected respondents and move to the advanced development phase. Specifics of any collaboration will be determined through consultation with the concerned parties.
