Seeking Manufacturer for Soy-Based Resin
Status: Need is Closed
Needs Title
Description
The Ohio Soybean Council seeks partners who can manufacture scaled quantities of Soy-PK resin to enable supply of lab-scale and pilot scale quantities.
Soy-PK (CAS# 1973457-12-3) is a proprietary soy-based resin developed to replace Bisphenol-A (BPA) based resins. Soy-PK is reactive with many cross linkers (amino resin, polymeric isocyanates and acrylates) and capable of forming coatings that match the performance of BPA based coatings.
Foam obtained using Soy-PK resin
Features and Benefits
Versatile resin for making coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, and foams
For more information about the resin, see data package at: https://www.pcimag.com/articles/101988-high-solids-reactive-oligomers-derived-from-soybean-oil
The goal is to enable production of 1-20 kg quantities of liquid resin to be able to offer resin samples for development projects. Ideally, a production partner could also scale up their process to provide larger quantities as demand increases.
Soy-PK is produced by a solvent-free acetoacetylation of soybean oil.
