Over 2.5 billion of the 4.5 billion people living with uncorrected vision don’t have access to basic vision care. These people continue to live with the social and economic consequences of their poor vision because they, simply, have no means for solutions.
Essilor believes that everyone deserves to have access to healthy vision. But, it's not just their business, it's everyone's business; for everyone to see well, we need to see change.
What you might not know is that poor vision is the most widespread disability in the world. The Essilor See Change Challenge was created to develop innovative technical solutions to improve the lives of 2.5 billion people by facilitating access to vision care.
Up to five winners of the first phase of the challenge will each earn 25,000 € in cash, and will have the opportunity to enter the second phase. In the second phase, there will be an additional amount of 100,000 € in cash for up to two final winners. In addition, Essilor will potentially support the final winners with development contracts to help them build and scale their solutions.
During the See Change Challenge webinar with Essilor representatives: Jayanth Bhuvaraghan, Chief Mission Officer, Norbert Gorny, Chief Innovation Officer, and Patricia Koh, Base of Pyramid Technical Manager, we discussed an overview of the challenge and hosted a live Q&A with the participating audience members.
